Phoenix Fire Department Uses GearGrid for Easily Adaptable Storage Solutions
“Having enough space so that the firefighters keep all their gear in one locker is a huge benefit.”
Jim Zwerg, Facilities Manager for the Phoenix Fire Department, said his initial intent when contacting GearGrid was to improve their storage systems for firefighter turnout gear and improve the longevity of the gear. The department wanted to rethink and redesign turnout gear space and storage thinking, an easy task in new construction projects.
“At our new stations, the GearGrid storage solution works great and is easily adaptable,” Zwerg said. “We have gone to double sets of turnouts which the system easily accommodates.” The adjustable shelf made it easy for the department to split the lockers in half to conveniently store both sets of turnout gear. “Having enough space so that the firefighters keep all their gear in one locker is a huge benefit,” he said.
Zwerg said working with GearGrid has been outstanding, “we never had an issue, and they have always been very professional.”
The firefighters’ reaction to placing GearGrid into the fire stations has been great. “They love it, nothing but positive reactions, Zwerg said. GearGrid is a great company, with a great product and has a great staff.”
