Minnesota Fire Department Finds Added Benefit with GearGrid Storage Solution
Eden Prairie Assistant Chief Ward Parker first discovered GearGrid at FDIC, where he had the opportunity to learn more about their extensive product line and the company in a rewarding conversation with their sales team.
“I learned that GearGrid was a Minnesota-based company not far from Eden Prairie, and of all the companies I looked at, GearGrid offered the most options, from size to color,” Parker said.
Working with the GearGrid team was great, according to Parker. “They first listened to my needs and then provided me with options to review,” he said. Being nearby, GearGrid offered Parker a tour of the company to see the manufacturing of the products.
He was impressed by the facilities, the quality control, and the dedication of the employees. If you look at an EPFD fire station, you will now see GearGrid lockers storing firefighters’ gear. The adjustable shelving and different options for hanging or storing items were a bonus.
“The lockers are wide enough and deep enough that it is easy for a firefighter to put the gear in and out without fighting the locker,” Parker said. “Firefighters are not shy and will tell you if they do not like something. This gave our firefighters options to set their locker up the way it worked for them,” he added.
“When we give tours, we receive many comments on how clean and organized the fire station looks. A big part of that is due to the GearGrid products. It not only stores gear and equipment, but it looks good!”
The fire department made additional purchases, including the SCBA storage and workbench, which provided its firefighters with a designated workspace for equipment checks and offered secure storage for packs and bottles.
“We also invested in wall-mounted storage racks throughout our stations, conveniently holding brooms, mops, and cleaning supplies,” Parker said.
A rolling storage unit with all of their cleaning supplies helps keep their fire stations looking clean and organized. Parker said the standout feature of GearGrid’s products is the ability to effortlessly move racking and hooks to different locations.
“Our firefighters like the storage options. The ability to change configurations of lockers or shelving easily is much appreciated,” said Parker. To other departments seeking exceptional storage options, Parker wholeheartedly recommends GearGrid.
“If you want good storage options, a product that is well built and looks good, GearGrid will fit your needs. They stand by their product.”
He continued, “I had a caster issue on some rolling racks. GearGrid sent me replacements without me asking for them,” he said. “I was just looking for options to make repairs and they proactively helped solve an issue. It made my job a lot easier.”
